Keep it simple when you workout. Push ups and squats have been around for ages, and are still some of the most effective exercises to date. Why? Because they are simple movements that you can challenge yourself with by changing the tempo, or adding more resistance. So many times I see people start an exercise program and get discouraged because exercises can be so complex and difficult. As a beginner, it is important to build your foundation with these simple exercises so that when it comes time to add more complex movements into your workout routine, you will have a solid base to start with. It is like any sport, if you want to be good, you have to practice the basics. To this day, I know many people who have been working out consistently for years, and they still do basic and simple exercises that have been proven to be effective. KISS, keep it simple silly. This will help you reach your goals that much faster, and you will be less likely to be discouraged when exercising!
