At Surge Kickboxing, we believe that the key to success lies in clear goal-setting, consistent action, and staying accountable. Whether you're aiming to improve your fitness, try something new, or take your mindset to the next level, this is your year to shine. Let’s dive into how you can make 2025 your best year yet!


Step 1: Set SMART Goals

The foundation of success begins with SMART goals—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

  • Specific: What exactly do you want to achieve? For example, “I want to attend three Surge Kickboxing classes every week” is much more actionable than “I want to work out more.”
  • Measurable: How will you track your progress? Keeping a fitness journal or using an app can help you stay on track.
  • Achievable: Set goals that challenge you but are realistic. If you’re new to striking, aiming to master a basic combo like jab-cross-hook in a month is a great start!
  • Relevant: Choose goals that align with your values. Whether it’s building strength, losing weight, or gaining confidence, make sure it matters to you.
  • Time-bound: Give yourself a deadline. Goals without deadlines can lose urgency, so make sure to set a timeline for each milestone.

Step 2: Create a Plan and Stay Accountable

Once your goals are set, it’s time to break them down into actionable steps. For example, if your goal is to improve your striking skills:

  1. Attend a class: Commit to a weekly schedule, like the new 4:15 PM Intro to Striking classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays or evening classes for more flexibility.
  2. Practice outside of class: Spend a few minutes shadowboxing or practicing combos at home.
  3. Ask for feedback: Our trainers at Surge Kickboxing, like Steve and Lacy, are here to help refine your technique.
